The 8th Lewes FC Beer Festival, held at the
Rook Inn on Friday, February 9, (from 5:30pm) features beers in cask and keg
from the best and most exciting breweries in the region, as well as some of the
coolest breweries in the country!
With the number of breweries in the UK rising
above 2,000 for the first time since the 1930s, there has never been a better
time to sample a superb array of tastes & flavours, and the festival offers
beers from breweries established for over two hundred years, to some just two.
Making their first appearances in the festival
this year are exciting ales from Goldmark and Listers breweries
in Arundel, Kiln Brewery from Burgess Hill and 360 Degrees from
Sheffield Park.
From around the UK we welcome Manchester’s First
Chop, two award-winning ales from the excellent Cronx Brewery in
Croydon, and a superb ale from Derby’s Thornbridge.
There are also new and seasonal entrants from Harvey’s,
Gun, Kissingate, and Dark Star, an incredible Burning
Sky collaboration with The Wild Beer Company, and back by popular
demand, we welcome the extremely popular and silver medal winner in the 2016
festival, Island Records Jamaican Porter.
Johnny Marshall, landlord of the Gardners Arms
in Lewes and curator the festival once again said,
“This years festival reflects the exciting
developments in the brewing industry at the moment”.
He added, “With our friends at Harvey’s at the
core to everything in this area, there are now so many incredible ales being
produced around the region. We’ve tried
to showcase this, as well as introduce some new and exciting flavours from the
rest of the country. We look forward to welcoming a record attendance this
year!”
Tickets are just £5 and the price
includes a free commemorative Lewes FC pint glass and tasting notes, and
there’s some great pub grub courtesy of the East Sussex Catering Company.
The Festival will continue throughout the
weekend, from 12:30pm on Saturday (10th), as Lewes FC’s Mens first team take on
Carshalton Athletic in a crucial Bostik League south game, kick off 3pm
and again on Sunday, as the Lewes FC Women entertain Cardiff City in the
FA Women’s Premier League south, kick off 2pm.
