We are writing to let our community know that our inspiring Chief Operating Officer, Kelly Lindsey, has left Lewes FC to take up the role of Head of Football Development for the Women’s Super League.

Whilst we are incredibly sad to be saying goodbye, we could not be happier for Kelly. This is a remarkable opportunity and one that reflects the esteem in which she is held across the game. It will place her at the heart of shaping the future of women’s football in this country – and there are few people better qualified to do so.

In many ways, Kelly’s appointment is also a tribute to Lewes FC. For the WSL to turn to someone who has played such a pivotal role in our journey is a reminder that the ideas, values and people associated with this club continue to have an influence far beyond the Dripping Pan.

Trevor Wells, Chair of Lewes FC said:

“Kelly arrived at Lewes FC in 2021 like a force of nature. From day one she brought an extraordinary energy, professionalism and ambition that helped transform every part of the club.

“Whether driving standards on the pitch or leading the club through some of the most challenging periods in our recent history, Kelly has always led with passion, knowledge and an unwavering belief in what Lewes FC stands for.

It is no surprise that the WSL has recognised her talent by appointing her to such an important role. It is a huge compliment to Kelly personally, and also to Lewes FC, that the work she has done here has been recognised at the very highest level of the game.

Kelly is one of football’s genuine trailblazers. We owe her an enormous debt of gratitude, and while we will miss her hugely, we couldn’t be prouder of what she has achieved.

Congratulations, Kelly. The Dripping Pan will always be your home, and we look forward to welcoming you back whenever you can. Good luck—we know you’re going to make an incredible impact.”

This has been Kelly’s second spell at Lewes and, once again, she has thrown herself into the club with a level of energy, commitment and enthusiasm that most of us can only marvel at. Whether working with staff, players, owners, partners, volunteers or supporters, she has brought positivity, purpose and an unwavering belief in what Lewes FC can achieve.

Kelly has been a champion for women’s football throughout her career, but she has also been a champion for Lewes FC. Through challenging moments and exciting ones alike, she has consistently embodied the spirit of Equality FC – ambitious, optimistic, inclusive and determined to make a difference.

Those of us fortunate enough to work alongside Kelly know that her contribution extends far beyond any job title. She has been a leader, a colleague, a problem-solver, an advocate, an ambassador and, for many, a friend. Her fingerprints are all over so much of what the club has achieved in recent years.

We will miss her enormously.

But above all, we are excited to see what she does next. Women’s football in this country is entering a pivotal period of growth and development, and Kelly’s new role gives her the opportunity to help shape that future. We have every confidence that she will make the same impact on the wider game that she has made here at Lewes.

From everyone at Lewes FC – our staff, players, volunteers, owners and supporters – thank you, Kelly.

Thank you for your passion, your leadership, your friendship and your belief in what this club stands for.

We wish you every success in your new role and we will be cheering you on every step of the way.

Once a Rook, always a Rook.
