Lewes FC are pleased to announce the return of central defender Josh Spinks for his second stint at The Dripping Pan.
Spinks was part of the Lewes squad that finished 13th in the 2024-25 Isthmian League Premier Division, joining halfway through the season and making 24 appearances under manager Craig Nelson.
Demonstrating his leadership credentials, he was entrusted to wear the captain’s armband towards the end of that campaign.
Following his first spell as a Rook, Spinks moved back to Burgess Hill Town, a club he had represented more than 100 times earlier in his career.
After helping the newly promoted Hillians to a top-half finish in the 2025-26 Premier Division, Spinks is ready to reunite with Nelson and add strength to the Lewes defensive line.
He is the club’s third centre-back signing of the summer, joining Tom Bender and Tyrese Owen.
“Growing up as a Sussex lad, in non-league Lewes have always been one of the biggest clubs,” said Spinks.
“To play for Lewes is an absolute honour. The first time I was here, it was very special to me.
“The fans are brilliant, home or away. Win or lose, they’re still loud, and that’s brilliant. The best pitch in the league. Brilliant stadium. And playing for Pitts, his style of play suits me.
“His philosophy is passing and playing out the back, which is how I like to play. It’s a good fit.”
Nelson added: “Josh was someone we were really keen to bring back.
“As a Sussex lad, he understands what representing Lewes means and it’s important to us that we continue building a squad with strong local connections alongside real quality.
