Rooks welcome England Youth International Paula Howells to the Club

Club news

Lewes FC is delighted to announce new signing, Paula Howells.

Twenty-two-year-old winger Paula has represented England at Under 23 level and joins the club as a free-agent. She has been training with Lewes FC over recent months as part of her rehabilitation following a serious injury in August 2018, whilst playing for the London Bees.

At the time, she was told she would never play again but has shown incredible resilience to return to full fitness within 18 months. She will go straight into the Development Squad this Sunday for top of the league clash against Crystal Palace.

Sussex-born, Paula will no doubt become a fan’s favourite very shortly and we are delighted to welcome her to the club.

Said manager Fran Alonso: “I’m delighted to have Paula at the Club. We’ve been helping with her recovery and every week we see more and more of what she will bring to the team. She is still very young but at the same time has a lot of experience in the Championship and England youth level.

“I believe Paula has a great future, she has responded really well to our training methodology and I believe our playing style will really suit her. I’m really looking forward to her debut which is not far away.”

Said Paula: “I’m really enjoying being at Lewes. The girls have been really welcoming. It’s good to be back on the pitch. I’m Sussex born and bred so it’ll be amazing to put the Lewes shirt on and walk out at the Pan.”
