Lewes return to League action on Sunday when they host Leicester City at the Dripping Pan for a 14:00 kick-off, as the Rooks look to return to winning ways.
Marcus Lee previews the game.
Lewes’ last game saw them narrowly lose out to London Bees 2-1 on a wet afternoon in the capital, with Danielle Lane scoring the only goal of the game for the Rooks.
After not having a game last weekend, due to the International break, Fran Alonso’s side having been putting in the hard work to ensure they pick up all three points this weekend and potentially climb up to third in the table.
Leicester City, meanwhile, are yet to pick up a win in the league this season, with their only point coming against London Bees in a 3-3 draw.
The two sides met back in January last season with the Foxes coming out 4-0 winners on the day in January. In the home fixture, Lewes claimed the three points in a 4-3 win at the Dripping Pan. Last season was Leicester’s and Lewes’ first season in the FA Women’s Championship with the Foxes finishing just ahead of the Rooks by two points.
However, this Sunday Alonso’s side will be looking to extend their gap over the Foxes to 10 points.
