Lewes v Crystal Palace
KO 7:30pm
Continental League Cup
Lewes got back to winning ways with the 1-0 victory over Blackburn on Sunday and are now preparing for a first Conti Cup group game of the season. And Interim Manager Craig Gill will get to see his new charges for the first time.

Once again the Rooks face Palace, who secured a league double over us last term – as well as a 2-1 Conti Cup triumph at the Pan.

In fact, Lewes last took anything from a game against Palace back in September 2019 – a 1-1 draw earned via Jess King’s second-half equaliser. Crystal Palace have been a regular feature in our Conti cup groupings.

The midweek fixture also gives players the chance to capitalise on the spirit generated from the weekend win against Blackburn in the League. Victory over Blackburn on Sunday came courtesy of Ellie Hack’s goal in just the second minute. It saw the Rooks climb eighth in the FA Women’s Championship with a game in hand over the likes of Sunderland, Palace and Sheffield United.

Eye on the Eagles

Palace sit just a point ahead of Lewes having played one game more than Parker’s troops in the FA Women’s Championship.

The London club beat Coventry United 3-2 at the weekend to end a four-game winless streak, with Siobhan Marie Wilson popping up with the winner.

Wilson boasts two goals for the season so far and could well be the one for the Rooks defence to watch out for come Wednesday.

Fellow goalscorer Kirsty Barton described the win as “a really positive performance that we can take a lot from” as they began to switch focus to this midweek fixture.
