Frankie Chappell has put pen-to-paper on a one-year contract with Lewes, securing the Player of the Season for 2018/19.
Frankie joined the Rooks from Folkestone Invicta last summer and made an instant impact. He missed the early part of the season through a knee injury, but was virtually ever-present after that, forming a solid partnership with Lloyd Cotton. The Rooks kept 20 clean sheets last season, helping to secure the club’s return to the Bostik Premier League at the second time of asking.
Manager Darren Freeman is delighted that Chappell has committed to another season. “I think everyone would agree Frankie was exceptional last season,” said Darren. “He brought a lot of maturity and experience to the side. He’s someone the younger players look up to. He’s a real leader and important to us for the future.”
Back at the Pan with Frankie will be Marcus Elliott. Marcus signed a deal to the end of 2018/19 when he joined the club in the spring. The former East Grinstead forward made a real impact from the bench during the run-in and the manager predicts he could make an even bigger impact next season.
“Marcus came in and worked ever so hard,” said Darren. “He’s someone with an eye for goal. He scored a couple and set a couple up, and every time he came on he did very well. It’s a clean slate and Marcus could play a big part next season.”
