Razz Coleman De-Graft is the “find of the season” and has even more to offer Lewes FC during the Isthmian Premier League run-in, says manager Tony Russell.
Razz hit a stunner from the edge of the penalty area that clipped in off the crossbar during Tuesday’s 2-0 victory over Margate.
The goal helped keep ‘Gate at bay for the remainder of the second half as the Rooks secured three points to move fifth in the table and into the last play-off spot.
And Russell reckons fans inside the Dripping Pan will be treated to more Razz specials before the season is out.
“Razz just doesn’t score simple goals!” jokes Russell. “We miss other simple chances, he hits the bar and the post and it rattles away, so much bad luck. But then look at that!
“Razz is the find of the season. He came here on trial along with Ollie Tanner. He’s an amazing talent and a great young man. We love him and he’s very popular.
“It was a great goal in front of this stand and the fans. The boys love it. When the roar goes up there’s nothing better. Under the lights as well, there’s nothing better.”
Tuesday’s win means Lewes sit fifth in the table, level on points with sixth-placed Folkestone and five points ahead of Cheshunt, who have two games in hand.
Saturday sees Lewes welcome Wingate & Finchley to the Pan and Russell is hoping for another zippy pitch to aid his team’s passing game.
“To be fair I was delighted when the rain came against Margate,” says the boss.
“The pitch hasn’t always been kind to us this season but the rain came and helped us. It zipped the ball about and once that happened we were fine.
“I’ll just have to make sure ahead of every home game to do a little rain dance!”
Saturday’s clash with Wingate & Finchley kicks off at 3pm. There are still tickets available for the tie and fans can get a discount by buying Lewes FC tickets online in advance.
