Men's football news

It’s been a great week for Darren Freeman’s side. Saturday’s win at Ashford United, thanks to goals from Frankie Chappell, Jonte Smith and James Hammond ensured the Rooks stayed ahead of the chasing pack, with a game in hand over some of the sides. Wednesday sees the Rooks host Ramsgate and the opportunity to build their lead at the top of the Bostik League South as we enter the final stretch of the season. New signing Marcus Elliott goes straight into the squad after signing from East Grinstead Town.

After six successive league defeats, visitors Ramsgate have now won three in a row, recording their last win with a convincing 3-0 victory over Chipstead on Saturday. It has been a real reversal of fortunes after they had gone ten games without a win, since beating Lewes back in December, when Tom Chapman scored twice and inflicted the heaviest league defeat on the Rooks so far this season. They won their last away match, 2-1 at Molesey, just their third win on the road this season. Alfie Paxman, Rory Smith and Tom Chapman are the men to watch, having scored over 50 goals between them this season.

The Rooks will look to continue their excellent home form which has seen them take 26 out of the last 30 points at The Dripping Pan.

Kick off at The Pan on Wednesday is 7:45pm.
