Simon Parker and his Lewes side will be looking to end 2020 on a high this weekend as the Rooks host Crystal Palace.

Lewes go into the game after securing their first three points since October with a 2-1 win over south-east London side Charlton Athletic. Megan Mackey opened the scoring that day with a shot that clipped the inside of the post, while Sammy Quayle netted the second with an excellent solo run.

The Rooks currently sit sixth in the FA Women’s Championship after nine games with 14 points. This puts them six points behind league leaders Leicester City and six points ahead of Sunday’s opposition Crystal Palace.

Sunday’s visitors are sitting in eighth place after nine games, winning two, drawing two and losing five of their matches.

Most recently the Eagles travelled to Merseyside to take on Liverpool and it was the Reds who came out on top that day with a 4-0 win.

The last time these sides met was two months ago in the Continental Tyres League Cup at The Dripping Pan. Lewes took the lead that night from an Emma Jones goal, but Palace’s Bianca Baptiste came on from the bench to score a brace and win the game 2-1 for the Eagles.

Baptiste is proving to be a vital player for the south London side this season. The striker is currently leading the goal scoring charts for the Eagles with ten goals in all competitions.

The Rooks and the Eagles last went head-to-head in the league back in September 2019, with the points being shared in a 1-1 draw.

Sunday’s match will be streamed live at lewesfc.com/live for supporters who are unable to attend. Updates will also be provided on the official Lewes FC Women Twitter account. Kick-off is scheduled for 2pm.
