Simon Parker’s Lewes travel to the West Midlands this Sunday looking to complete the double over Coventry United this season.
Sunday’s match could also see new signings Zoe Cross and Mollie Rouse make their debuts for the Club.
Last Time Out
In the Rooks’ most recent game it was Sheffield United who visited The Dripping Pan. The Blades came out on top that day winning 2-0 thanks to a Katie Wilkinson brace. The defeat did however see Ini Umotong and Lucy Ashworth-Clifford both come off the bench to make their debuts for the Club.
The last time the Rooks met Coventry was back in September for the first home game of the new season. In a tightly contested match, it was captain Rhian Cleverly who scored the winning goal in the sixth minute when she poked the ball in from close range.
In the previous meeting at Coventry’s Butts Park Arena, it was another win for the Rooks. In September 2019 former player Zoe Ness scored two second half goals, including a 90th minute winner, to seal the three points.
Jay Bradford’s Coventry United currently sit in tenth place after 12 games in the FA Women’s Championship. Coventry have won two games, drawn one and lost nine leaving them with seven points.
Coventry’s last win came back in October away to Charlton Athletic as they won 3-2, while their last point came from a 1-1 draw against London Bees in December. In Coventry’s most recent game they travelled to Sheffield United and lost 3-0.
Coventry United were also active in the January transfer window signing Georgia Stevens, Destiny Toussaint and Keeley Davies.
One To Watch
One opposition player to watch is Coventry’s Beth Merrick. Merrick is an experienced player having come through the Aston Villa youth academy and making her professional debut at just 16-years-old. The Coventry United forward scored a first half hat-trick against Durham in December and also scored in their 3-2 win over Charlton Athletic.
