Sussex County Cup
Sunday 17th December 2017
Kick Off: 1pm
Following the disappointment of our first postponement of
the season on Sunday, Lewes switch from League Cup to Country Cup this weekend,
taking the trip to Bexhill.
United Ladies have enjoyed a mixed season. They currently
sit 9th in the South East Counties Women’s League following recent
losses to Meridian Ladies and Chichester City DS, though they did beat
Eastbourne Ladies 1-0 in their last league outing.
Bexhill have faired better in the league cup this season,
besting Burgess Hill Town 3-1 before beating Ashford Ladies 2-1 at home at the
start of the month. Laura Bolton and Lucy Sheeran top the scoring charts with
three a-piece.
Bexhill will be looking forward to taking on a Premier
League side. John Donoghue’s team will be aware of this and will be taking the
tie seriously.
JD shred his thoughts ahead to Sunday’s match.
“It’s been a few seasons since Lewes played
in the County Cup. We will take a strong team to Bexhill with the addition of
some younger players. We want to give a good account of ourselves and maintain
our playing form going into the short Christmas break. It’s a shame the
Portsmouth game was postponed, it would have been great going into Christmas
Having played 3 competitive games in December.
With our next game not until January 7th we
will train over the break and are looking for a friendly on 2nd or 3rd January in
preparation for that (SSE Women’s FA Cup) game.
We also hope to have some player news to
bring you over the next 24 hours. As I’ve made clear, we continue to look at
ways to improve the squad.”
