Lewes FC has strengthened its strike force by bringing in sought-after Wales international Ella Powell.

Ella’s career started at Cardiff FC, progressing through the youth system until at 18 she left to pursue her studies in America.

At Georgia State University in Atlanta, she played under Ed Joyce and the team made it to the conference tournament.

Ella went to her first Wales international camp at the age of 14 and progressed through the ranks of U17s and U19s before making her senior debut against Portugal at the age of 18.

Ella commented: “I’m really excited to be heading to Lewes FC! I’m looking forward to playing in a really competitive league against challenging opposition that can help to develop me as a player. After speaking with Fran the vision he has as a coach aligns really well with me and I think it’s a great match for me as a player and a person. All of this is possible thanks to Next Gen Sport Solutions, and I want to say a huge thank you them for all of their hard work. I can’t wait to get started and see what we’ll achieve as a team this season!”

Fran Alonso added: “I am very happy to bring Ella to Lewes. Her ambitions and qualities match the club’s and mine so I was keen to get the deal done quickly. She is young but already with good senior international experience. Lewes fans will be very happy with the addition of such a quality player.”
