24 yr old Rhian Cleverly becomes the latest new addition to the team for the season ahead. Rhian arrives at the Pan after a season at French League 2 team Le Havre. Prior to that, Rhian played for three years in the US College system for Hofstra University, during which time she also played for Bristol City during their summer 2016 WSL2 campaign.
Having progressed through the Wales youth set-up, Rhian also recently made her senior debut. She plays either Centre Back or Centre Midfield and manager Fran Alonso has said he is delighted to secure a young player who has drawn interest from a number of top clubs. Fran commented: ” We have been trying to bring Rhian to Lewes for a while so I am very happy we can finally do it. She brings a lot of international experience and also knows the top tier here in England having been at Bristol City. Rhian is a leader and suits perfectly the way we try to play. This is a fantastic addition to the club and I am delighted that she picked Lewes from all the offers she had on the table'”
Rhian added: “I’m delighted to have signed for Lewes. I love the values and ambition of the club. To play for a team that cares so much about the growth of women’s football is very important to me. After visiting and speaking to Fran it was an opportunity that I couldn’t turn down. I can’t wait to meet the girls and start preparing for a successful season.”
