Lewes FC are delighted to confirm that Olympic gold medalist and former Tour de France rider Chris Boardman CBE will be dropping in to the Dripping Pan this Sunday en route to Paris.
Lewes FC Women take on MK Dons in a pre-season friendly starting at 2pm.
Chris, meanwhile, is on an eight-day cycle tour from Manchester to the French capital ahead of the Olympic Games, leading the Pedal for Paris initiative to galvanise action on climate change.
He and his fellow cyclists will arrive at the Pan ahead of the game to talk about sustainability and see what we’re doing as a community football club to improve our local environment.
Our community garden – Brad’s Pit – is in full bloom right now, while our solar panels pump energy back into the National Grid. This summer we have launched a new reusable cup scheme alongside Lewes Town Council and Green United, while half our food range is now vegan.
Fellow cycling enthusiasts are invited to join Chris on his route down to Newhaven, where he’ll take the ferry to France.
Chris and co. will be available to chat with fans ahead of the game.
About Pedal for Paris
Pedal for Paris is an eight-day bike ride from Manchester to Paris in July 2024, to promote green action and innovation ahead of the Olympic Games in the French capital.
Sport England chair Chris Boardman – who won Individual Pursuit gold at the 1992 Olympics – is leading the ride and aims to galvanise the sports industry to step up its work in tackling climate change.

• Reducing energy and water usage
• Champion walking, cycling and lift sharing when travelling to activities
• Drastically reducing reliance on single use plastics
• Recycling waste and increasing the reuse of sports equipment and kit
