The Rooks begin the 2022/23 with a visit to Wingate & Finchley
Lewes travel to north London today with a view to starting the season on a positive note, building on the significant upturn in results in 2021/22.
The majority of the squad that finished the 2021/22 campaign have been retained and the squad strengthened across the defence, midfield and attack and further bolstered with the loan signing of Marcel Elva-Fountaine.
The Rooks last visited The Blues under the cloud of Storm Arwen in November 2021, departing a disrupted game played in high winds at the Maurice Rebak Stadium with a point in a 1-1 draw. Bradley Pritchard scoring the sole Rooks goal.
Our previous three visits have yielded one win: we were well beaten under former Manager Hugo Langton in October 2020, losing 4-1 despite taking the lead with a Tom Bolarinwa goal in the fourth minute. The Rooks took a point in February 2020, a curling effort from outside the area from Ronnie Conlon in the 7th minute gave us the lead before we were pegged back in the 25th minute on a bitterly cold afternoon.
In September 2019, a James Hammond goal ensured the Rooks departed back to Sussex with all three points.
