Lewes get their Women’s FA Cup campaign underway on Sunday when they will host Billericay Town in the Fourth Round at the Dripping Pan, with kick-off scheduled for 1pm.
This will be the Rooks first match in this season’s FA Cup, and they will be looking to build on their good performance against London Bees in the league last weekend, which saw them gain a well-earned point.
The Rooks dominated for large parts of the game against the Bees. Lewes had the ball in the back of the net twice and were denied by the offside flag on both occasions. Katie Rood also rattled the bar and Emma Jones hit the post.
The FA Cup tie will also be Simon Parker’s second game as First Team Manager, and he will be hoping to gain his first victory.
This match may also see Paula Howells and Ellie Leek start their first game for the Club since signing. Both did however come off the bench against London Bees on Sunday.
Lewes will be hoping to progress further than last year, as in last season’s FA Cup the Rooks went out in the Fourth Round Proper when they lost 1-0 to Millwall Lionesses.
Sunday’s visitors, Billericay Town, currently play in the FA Women’s National League in Division 1 South East and sit in sixth place. Billericay have played eight games, winning six, drawing one and losing one.
This will be the visitors sixth Cup match of the competition, as their campaign started back in October in the Second Round Qualifying.
In Billericay’s recent FA Cup match, they took on Actonians, who also play in the FA Women’s National League Division 1 South East, and came out winners in a last minute 3-2 victory.
