The final game of the season is upon us. It feels like it’s been a long journey since the opening away draw to Wingate & Finchley, and we end it with an away trip to Essex and Canvey Island.

Whilst Canvey may have secured their play-off spot, they sit third place in the league table, level on points with second place Hornchurch, and they will certainly be hoping to pinch it off them.

The Rooks on the other hand, whilst it is out of their hands, still have a chance of making the last play-off spot, needing Haringey Borough to do us a favour against Cray Wanderers.

What’s more, Russell’s side will have revenge in mind after Canvey Island took our 0 from the home record, winning 2-0 at the Pan last month.

Canvey Island
We’ve met the Gulls on 11 previous occasions, of which we have won three of those games and drawn three times.

The aggregate score is 19-15 in the Gulls’ favour with our last win coming in January 2016 when we won 3-1 at the Pan.

As above, Canvey sit third in the league and have enjoyed a fantastic season back in the Isthmian Premier League, having achieved promotion last year.

Ones to watch
It’s fair to say the Islanders have goals in the team with Bradley Sach, who joined from Bowers & Pitsea in January, has 21 goals for the season.

Joining him on the same tally is Evans Kouassi who we know only too well the threat he possesses, having struck both goals at the Pan in our 2-0 defeat last month.

Their 79 goals for the season though is the same total as ours and Joe Taylor, who sits on 30 league goals this campaign, is level with Sam Higgins of Hornchurch whom he’ll be battling it out for golden boot with on the final day.

If you’re making the trip to Essex on Saturday, enjoy the day out and we look forward to seeing you there. Make sure to send your pictures and videos in!

Come on you Rooks!!!
