Lewes boss Simon Parker hopes the backing the Rooks fans give his players can get the team back to form following when Blackburn rock up at the Pan on Sunday.

Parker’s troops claimed one point from two trips to the north east recently but return home for the first time in nearly a month to take on Rovers.

Lewes beat Blackburn 3-0 when these sides met in March and the manager hopes a solid week of training combined with a vocal home support can get the job done here.

“We’re really looking forward to it,” says Parker. “We love having the fans here and it’s really beneficial for us.

“Hopefully we can continue on from our last home game where we got the win (over London City), so hopefully we can get a positive result.”

The Rooks were downed 2-0 at Durham last time out but Parker has seen plenty of positives during the week heading into Sunday’s showdown.

“Training’s been good,” he says. “Obviously we’ve wanted to put a few things right from the weekend against Durham.

“It wasn’t the worst game in the world, we had moments where the intensity was good but we have areas we need to work on. Hopefully we can work on that for the weekend.”

Focus on Rovers

Lewes last hosted Blackburn on this weekend a year ago, where Simran Jhamat scored the only goal late in the second half.

Ini Umotong, Rhian Cleverly and Danielle Lane were on the scoresheet during the 3-0 result at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium this spring.

And while Lewes have enjoyed some good results over Rovers of late, Parker is certainly not taking Sunday for granted.

They’re a good side. We know a fair amount about them from last season and the year before that,” he says. “They’re organised, we feel that we know what they’ll be about, it’s always a challenge.

“Although we’ve managed to have the recent results against them, we know that they’re a good team.”
