The players get their hands on that lovely new Kappa kit. Thank you Mayor!

On Sunday 16th June our MWB team returned to Lancing for the culmination of the SDFL cup competition.

And the occasion was boosted by the team sporting their brand new Kappa club kit as funded by the incoming Mayor of Lewes. They looked great, but what about on the pitch..?

It was always going to be a tough day at the office with two fixtures on the day.

The team’s first challenge saw them facing BHA Deaf team.  Lewes started very strongly and Dave Lambert hit the back of the net after two minutes. Dave was on fire and had his hatrick after just 14 minutes.

The second half saw ‘our Dave’ bag a further brace, with Ash Williams adding a sixth. The only blip was to concede a goal, as our defence had been superbly disciplined and resilient.

After an hour’s downtime we faced the Village…

Once again Dave led by example and once again an early lead was established.

Then Shane Coveney produced an astonishing twinkle toe’s run through the opposition box which was expertly finished by, yes you guessed it, Dave Lambert..  Two hatricks in one day!!

Despite a mini comeback by the Village, of two well worked goals, Ash scored again for Lewes, and there was another from ‘our Dave’ Then Ash took another corner and a Jack Hammond header made the net bulge again.

A huge thank you to Jess and Joe who assumed the coaching responsibilities during the season.

On the day, one name obviously stands out with Dave bagging seven goals and two match balls.

However, we win, draw and/or lose games as one unit.  This was a brilliant team performance, once again played in a great spirit.

Results:

Lewes 6 BHA Deaf 1

The Village 2 Lewes 5
