The Lewes Football Foundation will officially launch this weekend with two days of celebration at the Dripping Pan – and everyone in the Lewes community is invited!

Lewes FC Men take on Ashford United in the FA Trophy on Saturday (3pm), while Lewes FC Women face Cheltenham Town on Sunday (2pm).

Both matches are part of the Lewes Football Foundation Weekend, which will celebrate the creation of a new community-focused foundation that aims to strengthen this amazing town’s community spirit.

The Lewes Football Foundation represents community football teams associated with Lewes FC. Teams include Lewes Juniors, boys and girls, which is comprised of 21 football teams (over 300 players aged under seven-17 years), walking football, football therapy, Saturday Rooks and the Lewes Vets, both men’s and women’s teams of players aged over 35 years.

There are also almost 70 volunteer coaches, managers and committee members who work to deliver community football in Lewes.

Festivities on Saturday and Sunday include music, half-time competitions for the Juniors and, on Sunday, soapy fun courtesy of sponsor The English Soap Company.

Pete Bull, co-director of Lewes Football Foundation, said: “We are delighted to be up and running, and looking forward to supporting our teams to greater successes on the field, as well as fostering a sense of pride and belonging in our community off the field.”

Kelly Lindsey, Chief Operating Officer at Lewes FC, said: “We are thrilled to endorse the new Lewes Football Foundation. Bringing all the community teams under one inclusive umbrella makes absolute sense and means that we can work together to offer many more first-class opportunities to play football in the town.”

Keep your eyes peeled for a full overview of fun activities coming to the Dripping Pan over the weekend, and make sure to buy your tickets in advance to secure the online discount compared to buying on the gate.
