Lewes FC Women announce new General Manager

Club news

Lewes FC Women is delighted to announce that our new General Manager, effective July 2019, will be Maggie Murphy.

Maggie joins us from the Sport Integrity Global Alliance, where she was Director of Public Policy and Sport Integrity.  Prior to that she had senior roles in advocacy at Transparency International, the world’s largest anti-corruption organization and worked at Amnesty International on human rights issues.

Maggie is the Director of Communications at Equal Playing Field (EPF), an organisation dedicated to advancing women’s equality in sport from grassroots to elite levels.  At this summer’s world cup in France, EPF is staging the biggest football match ever played, which they hope will set their third Guinness World Record in as many years.

Lewes FC Chair, Stuart Fuller, said, “We’re thrilled with this appointment.  It’s a tremendous coup for the club to attract somebody of Maggie’s calibre, and she will catalyse our efforts to the next level.  2019-20 is shaping up to be an exciting year at Lewes FC.”

Maggie Murphy said, “Lewes FC is a club with a big personality. Its ethos of equality and inclusion is the absolute future of football. I’m incredibly impressed with how the club leads through action, not words and it is an honour to be joining the team. My ambition is clear – for Lewes FC to be the best club in the world, for everybody to know about it, and for others to learn from the example we are setting.”

Maggie is no stranger to the Dripping Pan, having made her debut for Shanklin Ladies here aged only 13…. and scored a hat-trick!
