As we look ahead to a new season, Lewes FC would like to express our deepest gratitude and appreciation to our outgoing U18s head coach, Jon Miller, and assistant, Ryan Paul.
For the past three years, Jon and Ryan have dedicated their time, energy, and countless hours to our U18 Boys Programme. Their passion, commitment, and belief in youth development have helped shape the journeys of many young players, both on and off the pitch.
Working in close collaboration with our Men’s first-team managers over the years, Jon and Ryan have been instrumental in aligning our U18 programme with one of our core goals: creating a clear pathway into first team football.
Over the last three seasons, numerous U18’s have trained alongside the first team squads, and last season, Leo Ginger and Christo Nano made their first team debuts. A standout moment came later on in the season when teenager Nano scored for the first team on his league debut.
Jon and Ryan have helped develop the Lewes FC family and leave behind a strong foundation.
“I have a lot of gratitude and respect for the great work Jon committed to the club,” says Lewes FC COO Kelly Lindsey. “He brought a deep passion for developing young people both on and off the pitch. That commitment to excellence and professionalism has been evident in everything he’s done, and we’re truly grateful for his time here.”
Director Ben Hall adds: “Jon’s dedication, integrity, and drive to elevate our players and uphold our culture has left a positive impact. We thank him for his leadership and wish him continued success in all he pursues.”
Jon says: “I’m incredibly proud to have served Lewes Football Club as U18s Head Coach. Over the past three seasons, I’ve had the privilege of working with some outstanding young players who have been truly inspiring. To everyone who has represented the U18s during my time, thank you so much for your hard work, commitment, and dedication.
“Football brings its share of highs and lows, and I’ve cherished every moment of the journey, creating memories that will stay with me for a long time, I’m sure.
“I’ve worked tirelessly over the years to bring a high level of professionalism to the role, and I couldn’t have done it without those who have supported me along the way — especially Ryan, who’s been by my side since day one: an exceptional coach, an influential figure, and an even better friend. Thank you.
“Finally, thank you to everyone at the club who has supported me throughout my time here. I wish the club all the success for the future.”
As we prepare for the new season, the club will be reviewing our U18 structure and making strategic decisions around the development of young Lewes players in our ecosystem.
Everyone at Lewes FC would like to thank Jon and Ryan for their commitment, expertise, and impact. We are in a stronger position to grow thanks to their hard work.
