Men's football news

After Saturday’s last-gasp win at Sittingbourne, the Rooks return home after three weeks on the road as they host Hastings United in the Bostik League South. Whilst both Bouwe Bosma and Lloyd Cotton may be fit enough to be considered for selection, Darren has the comfort of seeing new signings Omar Lawson, Leon Redwood and Liam Wilson all come through ninety minutes on Saturday.

Despite being in 11th position, Hastings United have retained their scoring streak, only twice failing to find the net this season. On Saturday they came from 2-0 down to beat Ramsgate 4-2 with goals from Dajon Golding (x2), Calum Davies and Tom Climpson, meaning they come into the derby on the back of a ten game unbeaten streak in the Bostik League South, one of the hottest streaks in the Bostik League South.

On the road this season they’ve won twice (at Ramsgate and Ashford United), Drawing five times and losing on four occasions. They’ve scored 18 time on the road, conceding 21 times. Influential midfielder Simon Johnson left the club in November, whilst the club have committed to a policy of developing talented young players, seen with the signings of players such as Antonio Walker, Callum Davies and Dejan Goulding.

Former Rooks Jack Dixon, Sam Cole, Tom Vickers and Ollie Rowe have featured for Hastings United this season, whilst Billy Medlock started the season at The Pilots Field, scoring four times including a goal against us on Bank Holiday Monday.

Last season’s game at The Pan was a cracker as the two sides shared eight goals, with Rowe scoring a late equaliser for Hastings after goals from Jack Dixon (two), Jonte Smith and Alex Malins. With the pressure coming from a number of clubs just below the Rooks in the table, three points would be a perfect way to celebrate Christmas on Tuesday.

Kick off on Boxing Day at The Pan is 3pm. Admission is £11 for Adults, £6 for Concessions and Kids (and dogs) go Free when accompanied by a paying adult.
