Men's football news

After Monday’s disappointing defeat at Horsham, The Rooks will look for an immediate response when they take on Faversham Town on Saturday at The Dripping Pan. Darren is still without Matthew George and Alex Malins, although Lloyd Cotton is on the verge of returning to first team action after a back injury. Bouwe Bosma is also likely to be in the squad after returning to the bench on Monday.

How has this season been for Faversham Town?
After a disappointing season last term finishing tenth, Manager Ray Turner
wasted no time in the summer rebuilding his squad with Simon Overland (Keeper –
signed from Sittingbourne), Sam Lawford (Striker – signed from Gillingham),
Mark Lovell (Striker – at Herne Bay last season), Danny Walder (Midfieder also
from Herne Bay) and Macauley Murray (Midfielder from Ramsgate). They started the season with a 5-0 win away at VCD Athletic but things haven’t gone too well since and the team arrive in East Sussex in 17th place on 30 points.

They’ve not won in the last six games, although they have played three of the top six in that period including a 4-2 defeat at Cray Wanderers last Saturday. Their record on the road has been a cause for concern for manager Ray Turner, winning just four and drawing three out of their fourteen games.

When
did we last meet Faversham Town?

Our experience against Faversham Town last
season weren’t the best.  We suffered our
most painful defeat of the season in September at the Shepherd Neame Stadium,
going down without a fight 5-0, hardly registering a shot on goal. In the
return fixture at The Pan in April, neither side really created a chance and we
shared the spoils, in the process meaning that Faversham Town were the only
side we failed to score against.
