Emily Moore delivered a Player of the Match performance in Lewes FC’s 1-1 draw with Watford on Sunday and says there’s more to come from the Rooks as the team continues to gel together.
Moore was on hand to deny Watford on multiple occasions and commanded her box during a flurry of crosses in the second half.
The Rooks had taken the lead through Lois Roche’s 47th-minute stunner and, while they couldn’t hold on for three points, Moore believes the team is developing nicely.
“It was kind of hectic at moments but that’s what a goalkeeper’s for!” she says. “It was a lot better than last week – that’s how we like to play, to build and link passes from the back.
“You can start to see the patterns that we want to play with. We’re getting better and better, and I feel we’ll be really on top of our game in a few more weeks.”
Lewes headed into Sunday’s match having played extra time in the 2-1 WNL Cup win over Worthing in midweek. Next up is a trip to Ipswich and Moore says she’s ready for whatever the league’s second-placed team will throw at her.
“I was busier than I expected [against Watford] with the amount of crosses they had – that was probably the hard part because I knew I was going to get clattered at the end of them all afternoon.
“But that’s the life of a goalkeeper, it’s all part of the job!”
