Day signs new deal

Men's football news

Versatile defender Tom Day has been rewarded for his impressive performances this season with a new contract.

Centre-back Tom has played right across the back four this season, often filling in for our injured full-backs. Despite playing out of position, he’s been one of the team’s most consistent performers, prompting management duo Ross Standen and Tony Coade to reward the 22-year-old with a contract that will keep him at the Pan until the end of the season, and with terms agreed for 2020/21 too.

“He’s young lad who really enjoys playing for the club,” said Ross. “He’s done very well, he’s very versaltile and has a very good injury record. He’s someone we want to be a big part of the side we’re trying to build for the future.”

Ross is also delighted with the player’s attitude and the way he’s conducted himself during the contract talks.”He’s been one of the easiest contract agreements we’ve ever had,” he said. “He’s really happy to be here.”

Tom says he’s delighted to have put pen to paper. “I’m really grateful that Ross, Codge and the board have offered me this contract, over the moon to sign it! I’m really enjoying my time at Lewes in the past year and hopefully this season we can push on and climb up the table! Thanks for the fans’ support!”
