Our high-flying Rookettes take the long road to Cardiff this
Sunday, 5th November
Fans who wish to join the trip should contact Jackie Gilligan via e-mail ASAP –

there are a handful of places left on the coach.
The last time these two sides met was in the Womens’ FA Cup.
Cardiff were on an unbeaten run that included a 1-1 draw at the Pan and a 6-0
shellacking on the 3G at the CCB, both in the league. Lewes ended that run in
the January cup tie, with goals from Chewy Carter and Leeta Rutherford.
Since the start of this season Cardiff have seen dramatic changes
in personnel and mixed fortunes on the pitch. Last Sunday’s 3-1 home win over Leyton
Orient in the FA WPL Cup saw two goals from top scorer Cori Williams and one
from Ella Powell.
That followed a fabulous seven-goal thriller at QPR in the
league, with Powell on the scoresheet again, joined by Laura Williams and two
from Zoe Atkins. Cardiff visit Lewes’s last opponents, Swindon Town LFC, on
Tuesday night. They will be keen to push on as they currently sit just two
places from bottom, albeit only having played six league matches (Lewes have
played ten).
John Donoghue will be looking to build on Lewes’s strong
start to the season. Sunday’s 7-0 win over Swindon secured 2nd
place, just four points behind leaders Charlton, who host in-form Coventry on
the same day. C&K Basildon, who took points of Charlton this weekend, visit
Swindon, so momentum is paramount as the top of the table tightens up.
Sunday saw seven different scorers in the Red and Black,
including first strikes for Charlotte Owen, Darcey James and Sarah Kempson.
Rachel Palmer and Avilla Bergin also scored, with Dani Lane and Rebecca Carter
netting their 4th and 5th of the season respectively.
Kick-off is 2pm
