Billy Medlock has signed a one-year contract with the club, securing
the services of last season’s top scorer for another season.
Billy scored 18 goals for the Rooks last season, adding to
the three he scored for our Sussex neighbours Hastings before joining the club
last autumn. His prolific form helped push the club to the top of the table and
ultimately to promotion from the Bostik South.
Darren Freeman is happy to have secured Billy for another
season, with the option to extend the deal further into 2019/20. “Billy is a proven
goalscorer at Lewes and at Bostik Premier level,” the manager told us.
“He’s a local lad who wants to play for his local side and I’m
delighted to have him back with us. A fit and firing Billy Medlock is amongst
the best strikers in the league. We’ll be working hard with Billy to get the
very best out of him.”
Joining Billy in the squad next season will be another player the
manager knows very well – his son, Stacey. The central defender missed the
entirety of last season after undergoing a triple hernia operation.
He’s now back to fitness and ready to join in pre-season
training, which starts in just a couple of weeks’ time.
“I’m delighted to have Stacey back,” said Darren. “He’s had
a long road back from his triple hernia, but he wants to come back and fight
for his place in the team, and he’ll give us even greater strength in depth at
