Lewes FC have signed Australian Izzy Dalton from Brisbane Roar for the 2021/22 Women’s Championship season.
Barnsley-born Dalton, 23, returns to English club football after two years playing in Australia and Italy. The midfielder was named Player of the Year last season for helping fire Brisbane into the W-League playoff semi-finals, providing a team-record seven assists along the way.

Having made her FAWSL debut as a 17-year-old for Bristol against Arsenal, Dalton then spent four years at the University of Colorado. On her return to the UK she signed for Nottingham Forest before jetting Down Under to join Brisbane.

Last year Dalton enjoyed a brief stint at SSD Napoli Femminile in Italy, joining fellow Aussies Alexandra Huynh and Jacynta Galabadaarachchi at the newly-promoted Serie A club midway through the coronavirus pandemic. She returned to Australia to help Brisbane to a best finish to a season since 2012.

A disciplined midfielder who loves to stand over a set piece, outside of football Dalton majored in sociology and has an interest in criminal justice.

“I’m really excited to be back in England and joining Lewes,” said Izzy. “The culture and values of the club are admirable and I’m excited to play my part in helping this club succeed further in the Championship this season.”

Manager Simon Parker commented: “We’re really excited to have Izzy on board. She has a lot of experience at the top level in Australia. She’s progressive, dynamic, versatile, and likes to get on the ball and keep things moving forward. She brings really positive energy and will do very well in the Championship this season.”
