Lewes FC are pleased to announce the signing of attacking midfielder Brian Garzon.
The latest addition to the Rooks impressed at Step 4 last season, finding the net 18 times for Walthamstow in the Isthmian League North.
Garzon played his youth football at Southend United. His career in non-league has included contributing to Walton & Hersham’s promotion from the 2022-23 Isthmian League South Central, scoring two goals in eight appearances.
The following season, Garzon switched within Step 4 to the Southern League Div. 1 Central with Hertford Town, where he was teammates with current Lewes player Ryan Bernal.
After a brief stint with Wingate & Finchley at Step 3, Garzon returned to Hertford and racked up more than 50 appearances across his two stints there.
Garzon, who is also an adept penalty taker, moved to Walthamstow last season for what turned out to be a breakout campaign that drew the attention of the Lewes men’s management team.
“Brian is exactly the type of player supporters love to watch,” said Lewes FC men’s first team manager Craig Nelson.
“He’s creative, brave on the ball and has the quality to unlock defences, but he also carries a real goal threat from midfield.
“He’s someone who can change a game with a moment of quality, and we believe our environment will help him continue to develop while making a big impact for us this season.”
Garzon has already been involved in the Rooks’ Isthmian League Premier Division preparations, playing in all three warm-up fixtures held so far against Rusthall, Hastings United and Gillingham.
Commenting on those preparations, Garzon said: “The management are very good. I think it will help me to build up my game and just show what I can do.
“I love playing football [and] being surrounded by good players. Especially at Walthamstow, to get my goals, and [now] bringing it to Lewes, it’s going to be amazing.”
