Lewes FC are pleased to announce the signing of centre forward George Nunn.
The 24-year-old bolsters the Rooks’ attacking unit and brings with him recent Isthmian League Premier Division experience.
Nunn started the 2025-26 campaign with Cheshunt, scoring three league goals including one at The Dripping Pan, in Lewes manager Craig Nelson’s first game back in charge of the men’s first team.
A product of the Crewe Alexandra youth system, Nunn signed for Chelsea aged 16 and joined Derby County two and a half years later, in mid-2022.
His career then took him abroad to clubs in Iceland and the Republic of Ireland, before a return to England last summer.
With two strikers recently departing the club, and Charlie Walker missing a few games through injury, Nelson has been looking to make attacking additions to his squad.
Nunn made his debut as part of the starting eleven in last Saturday’s home match against Aveley, wearing the number 9 shirt.
“Every game that we play, we will highlight players that we feel we like, or want to keep tabs on with a view to potentially bringing in,” explained Nelson.
“It was our first game here against Cheshunt, and I thought George played really well.
“He’s got a really nice left foot. He works hard; he grafts.
“When he became available, I took the opportunity to have a conversation and show him what we’re about and do, and he was fully on board.
“He knows one or two of the boys – he was at Chelsea with Alex [Kpakpé] previously.
“George is a player that I like the profile of. He can play anywhere across the front three and in the 10.
“He brings some height and experience to hopefully help us towards the end of the season.”
Janneh returns
Lewes FC are also pleased to confirm that Ansu Janneh has returned to The Dripping Pan after dual registration spells at two National League South clubs.
The central attacking midfielder joined the Rooks in September and made a couple of substitute appearances before moving up to Step 2 with Slough Town.
Janneh scored the opening goal in Slough’s 2-1 victory over National League side Altrincham in the first round of the FA Cup, which enabled the Berkshire team to equal its best run in the competition.
He went on to make nine league appearances for the Rebels before joining divisional rivals Tonbridge Angels in January.
After four outings with Tonbridge, Janneh has returned to his parent club Lewes and was also part of the starting lineup against Aveley, wearing number 19.
“Ansu was on my list last year when he was at Hastings,” said Nelson.
“Even though they got relegated, he showed that he possesses a lot of good qualities.
“I think, with the right environment, we can try and help him to improve and be a mainstay where he wants to go in his career.
“Until then, it’s about enjoying his football and being part of us pushing for a better finish to the season than what the last two games have shown.
“He’s strong, quick and wins headers. I think we need a bit of that in and around the unit at the moment.”
Welcome George, and welcome back Ansu!
