Thanks and goodbye to John Donoghue

Thanks and goodbye to John Donoghue

Club news

John Donoghue leaves Lewes Football Club this month, and everyone at the club would like to say a big thank you and to wish him well.

John came to the Dripping Pan from Brighton & Hove Albion five years ago, in June 2014, to be the manager of our women’s first team.   He subsequently became the inaugural head of our girls’ academy. John oversaw our transition from the then Women’s Premier League into our first season in the FA Women’s Championship.  He also played a central part in developing our player pathway, with the introduction of our Development and Foundation Squads on his arrival and the academy team shortly afterwards.  John oversaw the progression of players right the way from the academy through to the first team.

John is a UEFA A licence coach and was an important part of the club’s successful application to join the FA Women’s Championship in 2018.   There was only two weeks between John leaving Brighton and joining us in 2014, and we expect him to be snapped up just as quickly this time.

Thanks for everything, John, and we look forward to seeing you pitchside sometime soon.
