The Annual General Meeting of Lewes Community Football Club is scheduled to take place on 7th December at 7.30pm UK time. The AGM will take place both in person at The Dripping Pan and, if possible, online: access details to follow closer to the meeting date.
Board Elections
The Club currently has seven elected directors. Of those, Lucy Mills and Willa Bailey will be standing down at the AGM. Trevor Wells and Ed Briggs have come to the end of their three-year term and may choose to stand again. The Club therefore has seven director positions in total at this election, out of a maximum of ten elected directors.
If you wish to stand for election as a director you must be a member of the Community Benefit Society ‘Lewes Community Football Club Limited’, be over 18 years of age and your ownership needs to be valid as of midnight on Tuesday 28th November 2023.
Candidates should submit an election address setting out why they wish to stand and what they want to achieve if elected to the board. If your election address is greater than 500 words, please also provide a shorter summary for publication. Candidates should include the name of a proposer and seconder, both of whom must also be owners of Lewes Community Football Club Limited.
Election addresses should be marked for the attention of john@lewesfc.com and must be received by midnight on Tuesday 28th November 2023.
Each candidate’s election address will be circulated to owners by email on Wednesday 29th November 2023, and will also be posted on the club’s website.
If there are more candidates than vacancies, then a vote will take place. Voting will take place from Wednesday 29th November, and a link to vote will be circulated to Owners. Each owner can vote for up to seven candidates. The seven candidates receiving the most votes will be elected to the Board. Voting will close on midnight on 5th December 2023.
In the event more than seven applications are received, an online hustings will be held on the evening of Monday 4th December 2023.
If there are fewer or the same number of candidates as vacancies, all duly nominated candidates will be elected unopposed.
All appointments to the Board are subject to passing the FA’s Owners & Directors Test and adherence to the Club’s Election Policy.
The Board of Directors encourages prospective candidates to consider which of the 5 strategic pillars of the club (full financial sustainability, quality winning football, our house in order, impact on world and fan/community engagement) they would most like to drive forward.
The club currently has skills gaps in a number of areas – we would encourage owners with expertise in legal matters, high performance sport, external communications and marketing, non-league football, governance, and financial strategic thinking to consider standing for the board.
