Women's football news
Lewes FC Women Foundation Squad coach and Men’s DS assistant
coach Karl Davy has landed a plum role with Southwick FC as 1st XI Assistant
Coach for 2018/19. Everyone at Lewes wishes Karl the best in this exciting new
position.
First team manager John Donoghue wished Karl well.
“It’s been a pleasure to work with Karl this season. We
worked careful to dove-tail our roles (JD also coaches the Newman Lewes Academy
side, several of whom play for the FS) together with Greg (Cross) to ensure
continuity and clarity whilst maintaining a sense of fun for the players. Our
results (one league title for the FS, one County Cup win for the Academy) show
how well that’s gone.”
Speaking to Lewes this week, Karl paid tribute to his
colleagues at the club.
“It’s been a great season, one I will remember! Working with
the Lewes Women under John Donoghue and the men, alongside Steve Eke, has
helped me to progress as a coach.
The Ladies secured the league title after a tough campaign,
helping our U18’s win promotion into step 6 of the women’s pyramid. I’d like to
thank all the players, Greg Cross and everyone behind the scenes. It’s an
incredible end to a fabulous season.
Our goal was to help players progress into the first team
and to grow as players and as people. I believe we achieved that this season.”
Assistant coach Greg Cross will continue to work with the FS
squad, with news of Karl’s replacement to be confirmed by the club in the
coming days.
