Men's football news

Jamie Brotherton is signing for County League Saltdean Utd after a change in his work situation made it impossible for him to commit to Lewes for next season.

The tricky midfielder has been with the Rooks for the past two seasons and has graced the Pan with some delightful skills and goals in that time. Sadly, a change to Jamie’s day job made it hard for him to extend his stay for a third season.

“I loved playing for Daz and Ross and it was a really hard decision,” Jamie told us. “But my work situation has changed and it would make it tricky to make midweek matches. With promotion, the matches are going to be tougher and more long distance next season and something had to give, and I had to put my day job first.”

“It’s a massive shame, but I can’t give the level of commitment the club needs at this time.”

Jamie will remain dual-signed with Lewes and Saltdean, meaning we may not have seen the last of the ‘Bostik Bergkamp’ yet. Everyone at the club wishes Jamie well and thanks him for his service over the past couple of seasons.
