Lewes Football Club is announcing the retirement of one of our longest serving players Charley ‘Bos’ Boswell.

Bos has been with Lewes FC since November 2018 and in the past 3 years the full back has been instrumental in our many successes both on and off the field.

Known for her team spirit and leadership qualities, as a Lewes FC captain, Charley truly lives out the club’s values and will be dearly missed by all.

Lynne Burrell, General Manager, echoed a sentiment that runs throughout the club… We are one lucky club to have had a player with the talent and drive that Bos has. She has always pushed us to raise our standards as a team and a club and should be extremely proud of everything she has achieved, not just at Lewes, but throughout her career in football. It’s been absolutely wonderful to have her as part of the team and we want to thank Bos for everything she’s done.

Charley Boswell had previously stepped back from football in January 2021, but the depth of her character showed through when she returned to train and play when the club asked her for support

Prior to joining Lewes, Charley captained Portsmouth in 2017 and had spent 12 seasons with Brighton.
Her success included winning the league and securing promotion into the (former) WSL2 in 2106/17, something Charley considered a dream growing up.

Lewes FC Women achieved their highest league finish in 20/21, rounding off the season in 5th place. Bos played a key role in what had been an unusual year for all due to the global pandemic and not only brought her work rate and passion to the pitch but encouraged the team and re-enforced a bond that would see her often voted teammate of the week.

Charley will now be focusing on her studies for her MSc in Physiotherapy at Chichester University

We Will Miss You Bos!

Charley Boswell will be in attendance at our next home game and, we will be inviting fans to join us to give her a proper Lewes FC send off.
Details to follow.
