Injury time injustice as Rooks exit Senior Cup
25/1/12
Despite dominating much of tonight's Sussex Senior Cup tie, an injury time winner from Eastbourne Borough denied Lewes a place in the semi final for the first time since 2008.
Boro had gone ahead in the 56th minute when Matt Crabb lobbed debutant keeper Pawel Szelemej, but Lewes kept up the pressure and scored a deserved equaliser five minutes later when Paul Booth scored his second penalty in a week after Christian Nanetti was brought down by keeper Clark Masters.
With the game evenly balanced and heading for extra time, Lewes failed to clear a cross in the third minute of injury time allowing Ben Watson to blast home from 12 yards.
Lewes are back at the Dripping Pan on Saturday when they host Canvey Island in the Ryman Premier. Kick off is 2pm.
