Gulls too strong for Lewes

28/1/12

Lewes are still without a league win in 2012 as they allowed Canvey to come from behind and take all three points back to Essex. Paul Booth's 23rd minute header gave Lewes a half time lead despite a strong challenge from Canvey, but the Islanders drew level six minutes after the break through Jason Hallett. Canvey grew more confident and Bradley Woods-Garness 72nd minute winner disappointed most of the 607 crowd. Next Saturday, Lewes travel to Wingate and Finchley, kick off 3pm.

Canvey kick off now 2pm

27/1/12

The kick off for Saturday's game has been brought forward to 2pm with the co-operation of Canvey Island, to avoid a clash and congestion with Brighton's FA Cup tie at home to Newcastle, which kicks off at 5.15pm. This is a great opportunity for Albion fans to squeeze in a trip to the Pan before making the short hop to the Amex.

Injury time injustice as Rooks exit Senior Cup

25/1/12

Despite dominating much of tonight's Sussex Senior Cup tie, an injury time winner from Eastbourne Borough denied Lewes a place in the semi final for the first time since 2008. Boro had gone ahead in the 56th minute when Matt Crabb lobbed debutant keeper Pawel Szelemej, but Lewes kept up the pressure and scored a deserved equaliser five minutes later when Paul Booth scored his second penalty in a week after Christian Nanetti was brought down by keeper Clark Masters. With the game evenly balanced and heading for extra time, Lewes failed to clear a cross in the third minute of injury time allowing Ben Watson to blast home from 12 yards. Lewes are back at the Dripping Pan on Saturday when they host Canvey Island in the Ryman Premier. Kick off is 2pm.

Naomi Cole, who returned from the England team's training camp earlier this week scored twice with Holly Grogan and Clare Trafford adding their names to the scoresheet. Draws from closest rivals Norwich and Enfield helped cement Lewes' position nine points clear at the top of the table with six games left to play.

Rooks leave the Gate wide open

21/1/12

Lewes suffered their worst result on the road this afternoon following a 5-1 spanking by in-form Margate. It was the hosts fifth victory on the trot and although they looked good for the win, the scoreline overstated their superiority. However, the simple fact was that Margate took their chances and Lewes didn't, otherwise the goals may have been a fairer reflection on the afternoon's events.>>>

Grant left the Dripping Pan during the 2009/10 season to join the Seagulls' Development Squad and has impressed since his arrival at the Amex. Everyone at Lewes is very proud to see Grant's career at the Albion progress and continues to wish him every success for the future. (Photo courtesy of Seagulls.co.uk)
