Harveys have created a very special beer to celebrate the 125th birthday of Lewes Football Club, which is likely to play a big part in the extensive festivities at the Dripping Pan over the weekend.

The new brew is called ‘Lewes FC Ale’ and it packs quite a punch at 4.7%.

The club is very grateful to Harveys for the kind gesture and would like to thank everyone concerned for their hard work in getting the idea of a commemorative beer off the ground.

There are plenty of chances to sample this bitter at the Dripping Pan on Friday and Saturday, in the build up to the weekend’s big game against Chelmsford.

The new beer is the star of the show at the Lewes FC Beer Festival, in the Dripping Pan’s Rook Inn, starting at 5pm on Friday, alongside 20 other real ales and ciders.

The beer will also be on sale at Lewes’ historic fixture against Chelmsford City on Saturday (18th, ko 3pm, gates open 1pm), the closest home fixture to the date the club was formed on Sept 23rd, 1885.
