A unique collaboration between local artists and Lewes Football Club kicks off in the town next weekend.

Organised by Rooks125, the group behind a move to restructure Lewes FC as a community-run club, Artists United will see over 40 local designers, sculptors, photographers and painters display their work at the Foundry Gallery in North Street.

All pieces are up for sale and range from limited edition prints for under £30 to a sculpture designed by award winning Russian artist Svetlana K-Lie for over £20,000, with Rooks125 holding the sales commission on behalf of the Club until the community ownership deal is completed.

Other artists include Marcus Cornish, whose sculpture of Thomas Paine will be unveiled this weekend outside Lewes library; Roger Dean, who is responsible for the artwork on Yes album covers; Tom Homewood, Peter Messer, Marco Crivello, Jessica Zoob and Julian Bell.

"Looking for Eric," Ken Loach's recent film starring football legend Eric Cantona will be screened on Friday evening at 8pm (entry £5) whilst there is a kids art workshop on Saturday afternoon and a Young Artists United display showing work from young people in the area who have been inspired by some of the main exhibitors.

Coinciding with World Cup Final weekend, Artists United is open to everyone from Friday 9th July until Sunday 11th, 11am - 5pm (closes 3pm Sunday). Please feel free to pop down and have a browse.
