Rooks swoop to sign Gradwell and Ide
21/5/10
With the season having finished only four weeks ago, Lewes have wasted no time in putting plans in place for the new campaign with the signing of Rob Gradwell and Lewis Ide.
Gradwell is a familiar face to Lewes supporters, having joined the team on loan from Blue Square Premier side Hayes and Yeading for the last month of the season.
The 20 year old striker played a major role in the Rooks' Blue Square South survival scoring three goals, including the second in the 2-1 win at Hampton and Richmond in the season's final game.
Gradwell was released by Hayes & Yeading earlier this month and the Lewes management team of Steve Ibbitson and Jason Hopkinson moved fast to secure his services for a full season at the Dripping Pan.
Lewis Ide has been on the Lewes radar for a while and Ibbitson tried to sign him last year. The 19 year old started last season with Brighton & Hove Albion as a first year professional before signing for Bognor Regis on loan, having played for the Rocks in their relegation season from Blue Square South.
Ide plays in the middle of midfield but can also slot in at full back. The youngster has great energy, is very competitive and has a bright future ahead of him at the Dripping Pan.
