A brave performance from the Lewes Under 18 side wasn't enough to see them through to the final of the Ryman Youth League Cup final following a 1-0 defeat at Brentwood last night.
A tense game saw both sides struggle to gain the upperhand, and extra time came as little surprise. However, Brentwood went ahead in the 93rd minute through Robbie Rees leaving the Rooks with a mountain to climb.
Lewes, who won the league title earlier this month, upped the ante in the closing minutes, but they were unable to equalise and the chance of a league and cup double disappeared into the Essex evening.
