Lewes remain in the relegation zone following a 0-0 draw with St Albans this evening at the Dripping Pan.

Neither side was able to take control although Lewes keeper Rikki Banks was a key figure in the score remaining goalless at half time with saves from Ross Dedman and Gary Cohen.

The Rooks’ were guilty of some loose passing but they slowly began to get involved and Chris Breach headed narrowly wide from a corner.

Banks remained busy after the restart, preventing Peter Smith and Gary Cohen from breaking the deadlock, but Lewes stepped up a gear with the introduction of Jean-Michel Sigere midway through the half.

The Rooks almost took the lead when Sigere’s lay-off found Jack Walder but the midfielder’s shot across the face of goal agonisingly bounced off the foot of the far post.

At the death, James Fraser’s cross from the left was almost scrambled over the line by David Wheeler, but St Albans keeper Paul Bostock gratefully pounced on the loose ball to keep the score level.

The Rooks are in action again on Saturday when they take on Dorchester, kick off 3pm.
