Lewes lost their fourth encounter of the season with Eastleigh this evening at the Dripping Pan

It was a frustrating night for Lewes as they controlled the match for long periods but were unable to get the result their hard work deserved.

The Rooks made a terrible start to the match, conceding a soft header from Ross Bottomley after only six minutes from the game’s first corner.

Despite this, Lewes battled hard to get back into contention and a move that began with Lewis Hamilton’s clearance ended with Jean Michel Sigere’s deserved equaliser from close range in the 32nd minute.

Five minutes before the break, Lewes went behind again after another avoidable goal from a corner, when Luke Wilkinson was allowed space to guide his back header past Lewes keeper Rikki Banks.

The Rooks really dominated the second half, during which time Eastleigh created nothing of note except for some frustrating time-wasting antics which went un-noticed by the referee.

The visitors were content to defend their lead and despite the lion’s share of possession, the Rooks struggled to make the breakthrough they deserved.

Anthony Barness had the best chance when his 82nd minute shot from 30 yards hit the bar and Tim Rivers' acrobatic effort from the rebound went high.

Jack Walder almost capped a fine display five minutes from time when he forced Eastleigh keeper Jason Matthews to parry his powerful shot, but the Eastleigh defence stood firm.

The Rooks travel to Basingstoke on Saturday who are having a special price promotion at the Camrose, when tickets are only £5 per adult or £1 per child.
