Lewes left Dorset empty-handed this afternoon in the basement clash against Weymouth.

The Rooks missed out on the chance to pull out of the relegation zone after being despatched by the Terras, going down 3-1.

The home side took on Lewes with newly appointed manager Jerry Gill at the helm for the first time, and this was enough incentive to spur the Weymouth players into a well-deserved home victory.

Josh Llewellyn forged a 17th minute lead for Weymouth, but this was scrubbed out by half time thanks to Joe Keehan's 21st minute penalty after a foul on Arron Hopkinson.

Lewes lost their way in the second half and were punished by Stephen Reed's wonderstrike from 25 yards in the 58th minute.

Keeper Rikki Banks continued his great form this season by keeping Lewes within touching distance, but even he was unable to stop Jake Reid from tapping in 20 minutes from time as the Terras secured a valuable three points.

Lewes have the chance to put this performance behind them on Wednesday when they take on Hastings United in the Sussex Senior Cup third round, kick off 7.45pm at the Dripping Pan.

Play-off chasing Braintree are the next league visitors to the Pan on Saturday 6th Feb.
