Lewes youngsters in England trials
02/11/09
Three Lewes youth team players were involved in England Schools trials last weekend.
Winger Arron Hopkinson, goalkeeper JJ Banasco-Zaragoza and striker Tim Rivers all took part in the first stage trials for a place in the England Schools squad which will contest the defence of the Carnegie Centenary Shield next spring.
Last season, Lewes players David Wheeler and Matt Whitehead (now with Worthing) won places in the squad and were involved in games against Northern Ireland, Wales, Republic of Ireland and Scotland, with the season finale against a French invitation side at Wembley in May.
The current set of England trials are set to last into the winter, with the final squad announcement expected in January.
Lewes FC would like to wish Arron, JJ and Tim the best of luck for the trials.
