Lewes throws the gates open to the youngsters
25/10/09
The next generation of Lewes fans can watch the next two games at the Dripping Pan for free.
In an effort to encourage more young Rooks supporters to watch a match, the forthcoming games against St Albans on Wednesday and Hampton & Richmond on November 7th will be free to youngsters under 14 years old.
Lewes Manager Steve Ibbitson, buoyed by the team's fine performance and season's first win over play-off chasing Bishops Stortford said: "Some fans have suggested we should encourage the kids to come to the Dripping Pan and we totally agree."
"Having been so involved with our younger sides for quite a few seasons now, I appreciate how important it is to encourage youth support and getting youngsters in to watch what fans are telling me is the attractive and exciting football we are aiming to deliver. "
"Certainly the players truly appreciate the support from the fans. This gesture of free entry can only benefit the future of Lewes FC."
Ibbitson added: "If the free entry experiment is a success, I’m sure we will look at extending it for the rest of the season."
