Lewes manager Steve Ibbitson spoke of his disappointment at losing against Weston-Super-Mare, but re-iterated his dedication to improve matters on the pitch.

Despite the reverse, Ibbitson said: “People will look and say ‘well you’ve lost 3-2’ but of the play, I thought that we were the better side by a long way.”

“When you play well in general play, that’s when you’ve got to get the result, particularly when you’re in the position we’re in. We didn’t do that today and we should have done.”

“We had more chances than them, especially in the 2nd half but we didn’t put them in. I’m very, very disappointed; these are the sides we’ve got to beat.”

Despite Weston’s lowly position, they have secured the services of strikers Ben Joyce from Torquay United and David Gilroy from Newport and both of them caused Lewes problems during the game, with Gilroy netting a hatrick.

Ibbitson commented: “Weston have signed two strikers on loan who are very good players. They have good movement and they finish well. We also struggled to cope with Jack Crompton who got a good cross in for their 2nd goal.”

Despite the defeat, Ibbitson remains upbeat about the rest of the season. He commented: “I felt that there were a lot of positives today. I’ve been quite depressed after the last couple of games because we’ve not played well but today, we played some good general football. The problem was we didn’t convert the high number of chances we created.”

“I feel a lot happier that we’ve got something to work on [in training] this week.We will turn this around, I’m determined.”
