File (Embeded) - Lewes v Maidenhead Sept 09 Wheeler celebrates

Lewes let a goal lead slip through their fingers as they were beaten by Maidenhead this afternoon.

The Rooks could have taken a seventh minute lead after they were awarded a penalty when Ryan Storrie was fouled, but Scott Chamberlain's weak kick was easy for Maidenhead keeper Chris Tardif to keep out.

A trademark Wheeler run resulted in Lewes taking a half time lead when he scored in the 27th minute and after he was refused what appeared to be a certain penalty as the interval approached, the home side looked to be reasonably comfortable.

However this all changed in the second half and a less confident Lewes side went behind in the 53rd minute when Kieron St Aimie headed United's equaliser.

The visitors looked much stronger and they scored the winner in the 77th minute through Sam Collins.

Afterwards, disappointed Lewes manager Steve Ibbitson said "We came in at half time and said that we've got to work but in the second half we just stopped playing. We seemed to stop wanting the ball."
